Bee a Team Player
While some creatures seek safety in numbers for selfish reasons, bees and ants truly work together as a unit. Researchers studying "swarm behavior" found that bison and fish try to get to the center of large groups to evade predators, whereas bees and ants are willing to sacrifice themselves for the good of the colony. This cooperative behavior is characteristic of superorganisms, groups of closely related organisms whose members work together to ensure that shared genetic material is passed on.
